Hello! I’m back at it again with a recipe for Tiktok ramen. I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to Tiktok and all the viral food hacks they have – I’m HOOKED. This Tiktok ramen was too easy to not try. Plus, I had all the ingredients in the pantry so it made for a quick and satisfying lunch. It was delicious!

Tiktok ramen is saucy, slightly sweet, full of umami, and really good. The flavors kind of remind me of an extra garlicky version of one of my all time favorite instant noodles: Indomie Mi Goreng, which is a take on Indonesian fried noodles.

I feel like everyone has their own favorite way of making instant ramen. To be honest, I think instant ramen is one of the greatest inventions out there! The person who invented it, Momofuku Ando, a Taiwanese-Japanese inventor, has a quote that I love: Human beings are noodle beings.

I am definitely a noodle being and all I want to do is eat noodles and live that noodle life.

What is Tiktok ramen?

Tiktok ramen is where you use instant ramen noodles, ditch the seasoning packet, and make your own sauce. Unlike soup-y ramen, Tiktok ramen is a soup-less ramen, kind of like mazemen or sesame noodles. Ramen noodles are tossed in a garlic butter soy brown sugar sauce, cooked with an egg and finished with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning.

Does Tiktok ramen taste good?

In a word: YES! Tiktok ramen is sweet and savory with added richness from the butter and egg, and just a hint of spice. Super addictive.

How to make Tiktok ramen

  1. Cook your instant ramen. Don’t overcook it – mushy noodles are a travesty. Instant ramen should have an al dente bite. Pop the noodles into boiling water, set a timer, use a pair of chopsticks to loose the them up, and when the time is up, instantly drain them and set them aside. Pro tip: if you’re a true noodle lover, cook the noodles slightly less than the suggested cooking time, they will cook up a bit more while you’re tossing them in the sauce. This way you’ll have perfectly al dente noodles.
  2. Make the sauce. In a pan, heat up the butter over low heat. Add the garlic and cook until soft. Stir in the crushed red pepper, then the brown sugar and soy sauce.
  3. Toss. Add the drained noodles to the pan, turn up the heat, and toss to coat.
  4. Cook the egg. Push the noodles to one side and add an egg to the pan and scramble until just set.
  5. Serve. Place the noodles in a bowl and finish with sliced scallions and everything bagel spice. Enjoy hot!

Tiktok ramen ingredients

instant ramen – choose your favorite brand of instant ramen. The flavor doesn’t matter because you’re not going to use the seasoning packet. Our favorite noodles are Nong Shim Shin Ramyun because of how thick the noodles are.

  • butter – just bit of butter is melted down to cook up some garlic.
  • garlic – you need about 1 teaspoon of chopped or minced garlic. Or, if you’re a garlic lover, use as many cloves as you can handle.
  • brown sugar – the brown sugar adds a bit of caramel sweetness and color. If you don’t have brown sugar, you can use regular sugar or even honey.
  • soy sauce – use your favorite soy sauce – we like Yamasa or Kikkoman.
  • crushed red pepper flakes – you can add as many chili flakes as you like or leave them out all together, depending on your spice tolerance.
  • egg – throw an egg on it because ramen without an egg isn’t even ramen.
  • everything bagel spice – make it rain everything bagel spice!

Why everything bagel spice?

Everything bagel spice is LIFE. Also, when you think about it, everything bagel spice is essentially furikake, which is Japanese rice seasoning. Furikake is a seasoning made up of toasted sesame seeds and seaweed and is eaten on rice and noodles. In Japan, they even have furikake chips. It makes sense that Tiktok ramen uses everything bagel spice to dress up ramen, after all they have sesame seeds in common.

How to make homemade everything bagel spice

If you don’t have any everything bagel spice, it’s super easy to mix up your own.

In a small bowl, mix together:
1.5 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tbsp each poppy seeds, minced garlic, and minced onion
1 teaspoon coarse or flaky salt
Sprinkle it on everything!

Best ramen noodles

Our favorite brand of ramen is Nongshim, a Korean brand. They’re incredibly popular, both in Korea and all over the world. There’s actually a Nongshim noodle factory in LA and we visited it once. It was amazing! The chew and thickness of Nongshim noodles is just perfect. We usually buy either Shin Ramyun or Shin Black. Both have amazing texture.

Happy noodling!

Tasty…. I’ll make this again, but I’d suggest to under cook the noodles just a smidge as they cook more once you get them in the soy. I’d also use low sodium soy as these came out a bit salty for my taste.

  19. Diane says:

    5 stars
I used coconut aminos and deleted the brown sugar because they are a little sweeter. This was delicious and I’ll definitely make it again. I’m 51.

I’m 45 🙂 I’ve made this a few times. I add leftover rotisserie chicken into the sauce for a little more protein. I’ve also added peanut butter, which is really good and changes it up a little.

Also, I am a wimp when it comes to spicy things, so I sub ketchup for the hot sauce.

    1. Julia says:

Good idea with the chicken, but I missed the hot sauce??! Otherwise, this is delicious & my age has nothing to do with it!! LOL. 🤣😂

  29. Matt says:

So I made this out of curiosity. It’s pretty good for being only a few cheap ingredients. Little spicy, little sweet, definitely filling (surprisingly) it could use a little acid like lime or vinegar. It’s fairly one dimensional but has loads of potential. Give it a try

I used low sodium soy and doubled what it called for. I also added 1/8tsp of garlic powder. I found it easier to pour the egg over the noodles and let it cook that way.

  78. Elizabeth says:

I’m going to cook it I and will comment if it was nice 😊😊

  79. J says:

Is it okay if u don’t use the everything bagel spice

    1. Stephanie says:

absolutely, you can skip it :)

  80. Michelle says:

I don’t eat egg in my ramen, I save that for my stir fry so I skipped the egg. To keep this instant ramen I did everything in the microwave. If you add everything to your water before cooking you can make the sauce as you cook it and it’s ready to go when the noodles are cooked. Make sure you check on and stir your ramen as it cooks so you distribute the ingredients evenly. If you like less broth/sauce just drain it to your liking after. Cooking it this way thoroughly coats your noodles and saves you some time. If you must have the egg while your noodles are in the microwave you can cook up the egg and add it in at the end. If you don’t have fresh garlic and want to use garlic powder reduce the amount of garlic used in the recipe. I suggest using 1/2 tsp max. I didn’t have red chili pepper flakes so I used chili powder, if you can’t handle much spice just use a pinch of the chili powder otherwise 1/4 tsp is fine. Even with the alterations this ramen recipe turned out really good. I’ve tried a few different ramen recipes but this one I’d actually use again.

  81. Rae says:

    5 stars
It’s unfortunate it’s so high calorie (when I put calories in it ended up being 635, but I added more stuff and used a higher cal ramen), because it’s delicious.

I did all the measurements the same except I added a tbsp of jarred garlic (I like garlic), scallions, white onion, and a 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar instead of 1 tsp. Heated it up in the butter until onions went translucent. Followed everything else to a T! It’ll become a guilty pleasure. Also I’m 24. 🤲

    1. Joan says:

If you ate the entire recipe yourself–which is a big bellyful of noodles–that is a great deal of food for only 635 calories. Even if you went ramen-mad and started eating this meal three times a day, you would consume1905 Kcalories, which is a reasonable amount for an active 24-year-old woman per day. Of course, that would be a terribly unbalanced diet, lacking most important nutrients. Moderation in all things, including moderation.
I think I’ll try it with the onion you suggested and a squeeze of lime juice. I am 59 years old.

  82. CovertLady says:

    5 stars
I found this to be quite tasty. I am 25 yrs. & 288 mos. old.

  83. Heather says:

I quadrupled the recipe. I followed most of the measurements, but added ginger paste, sesame oil, and a splash of rice vinegar. Topped it with Sriracha mayo made with regular mayo, Sriracha, and a little maple syrup. This is a wonderful base recipe that is easy to customize!

I made this for the first time, and it’s a tasty salty and umami flavor! I plan to make it again. I added frozen peas and green onions. I am 36 years old.

This recipe is so good (I am 20 btw)! (Also I used regular sugar instead of brown sugar because I am a college kid who doesn’t have brown sugar in her pantry)

Loved not using the salty packet. I did as recipes stated minus no everything bagel as I don’t have it. That a bad thing? Lol next time I’ll double the sauce and add chopped peanuts for crunch. Delicious. I did a sunny side up egg on the side to give it a yolk sauce of sorts. Made 2 batches. Hubby, 51. Me, 49. Never too old for ramen noodles and love the lower “sodium” option. Thanks for the recipe!

So simple and delish! I love to add fresh grated ginger and scallions in my soy sauce combo, and veggies as needed. Kids and hubs love it. Made it a couple of times since I discovered this recipe. 44 years old!

Nice! I only gave it 4 stars for altering recipe. Low sodium soy sauce only needed. I would double the sauce. Pretty tasty and easy. But, (wait for it,) at the end, I added some Bachan’s Japanese BBQ Sauce. FANTASTIC!

I substituted gochujang for red pepper and added some kimchi, and opted for just sesame seeds and some dried parsley on top and it was so good.
    I am 34.

This was so good! I doubled the sauce and quadrupled the red pepper flakes and I am now addicted. Also added cucumbers and let them fry while cooking the egg. Pretty sure I can’t feel my tongue now because of the spice 🥲 but was still amaaazzzziiiinnngggggg!!! As the teenagers say, “def recommend these heckin bussin noodles”

This was SO delicious. I added shredded cheddar cheese to the top and I fried the egg instead of scrambling. 10/10 great fast breakfast meal
